About this planner
This is a small, independent set of garden calculators and planners, built as a static site with no accounts, no tracking and no adverts. It is a new resource at this address and has no connection to anything published here before.
What this site does
Today's Gardens is a set of garden calculators and planners. You measure a space, enter the material assumptions that apply to your own job, and get a quantity you can take to a supplier, along with a printable record of how it was worked out. There are eleven tools: five material calculators, a reusable measurement worksheet, a lawn levelling calculator, and three planners that answer a decision rather than a quantity.
An independent, new resource at this address
This is a new, independent planning resource. It has no connection with, and makes no claim to continue, any previous site, business, staff, customers or work at this address. Nothing published here before has been carried over, and none of the content on this site describes work that anyone associated with it has performed.
The editorial rule
Every numeric output is a planning estimate. That framing is not a disclaimer bolted on at the end; it is the reason the tools are built the way they are:
- Nothing that changes a number is assumed on your behalf. Depth, waste, overage, bag size, bulk bag size, roll size, application rate and density are all yours, and every result echoes the ones you entered — including the ones you left empty.
- Weight is never shown unless you supply a density, because the density of loose garden material varies with moisture, grading and compaction.
- Missing, zero, negative, malformed or implausibly large values produce no result at all. There is no partial answer and no substituted default.
- A result goes stale the moment any input that produced it changes. The numbers are removed from the page rather than dimmed, because a greyed-out wrong number is still a wrong number.
- Guidance drawn from published sources is attributed, dated and separated from arithmetic. Where our arithmetic and a source's rule of thumb differ, both are shown.
- The words safe, compliant, approved, guaranteed and suitable never appear as a computed verdict anywhere in this build.
How it is funded
It is not commercially funded. As it stands today this site carries no advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored content and no partner links of any kind, and it sells nothing. That is a statement of present fact rather than a promise about the future; if it ever changed, the change would be stated here plainly rather than left for readers to notice.
What it does not have
There is no account system, no newsletter, no contact form, no comment section and no tracking. Nothing you type into a calculator leaves your browser, because there is nowhere for it to go — the privacy statement sets out exactly what that means and what it does not.
This build also has no contact channel. That is a genuine limitation rather than an oversight, and it is recorded honestly on the accessibility statement rather than covered with a form that goes nowhere.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, it should be corrected rather than softened. The policy is: arithmetic errors are fixed in the engine and covered by a new test case, so the same mistake cannot return; a misattributed or misread source is corrected on the source register and wherever it was cited; and a claim that cannot be supported is removed rather than hedged. The methodology page exists so that a sceptical reader can check the arithmetic without taking anything here on trust.
